The III Congress of the National Medical Chamber, held in the Column Hall of the House of Unions, has completed its work in Moscow. The largest medical public association in Russia includes more than 1,200 representatives of the professional community from 82 regions of the country.
The Congress was chaired by NMC President Leonid Roshal, and it was attended by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova, Deputy Minister Tatyana Yakovleva, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection Sergei Kalashnikov, Academicians Yevgeny Chazov, Vladimir Starodubov, Alexander Chuchalin, Alexander Baranov, and many others. Among the guests of the Congress was also the Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania to the President of the Russian Federation Tatyana Sukhomlinova.
Opening the professional congress, Leonid Roshal outlined the main goals of the NMC’s work. “To be frank, this is truly the Congress of Doctors of Russia. The National Medical Chamber has become established and is ready to take responsibility for the quality of the sectoral decisions being made. Today we are laying the foundations for a state-public form of management of professional activity,” emphasized the President of the NMC.
A key issue was the development of a federal law regulating the transfer of part of the Ministry of Health’s powers to the professional medical community. Earlier, Vladimir Putin signed an instruction for the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Veronika Skvortsova, to develop a draft of such a document by mid-July 2014.
Within the framework of the III Congress of the National Medical Chamber, a ceremonial award presentation was also held, with laureates including doctors, students, journalists, and public figures, as well as professional and territorial public associations of medical workers. This was the first time it was awarded in Russia.
