The All-Russian Public Organization “Russian Society of Doctors of Restorative Medicine, Medical Rehabilitation, Balneologists and Physiotherapists” (ROV VMMRKF) is a non-profit public organization that brings together physicians working in Centers (departments) of medical rehabilitation, hospitals, polyclinics, in sanatorium-and-spa organizations, in specialized research institutes and in university departments, as well as all physicians providing medical care for health improvement, restorative treatment and rehabilitation, using non-drug technologies of balneology, physiotherapy, therapeutic exercise, psychotherapy, therapeutic and health-improving nutrition, manual therapy, osteopathy, reflexotherapy and other traditional treatment methods. The All-Russian Public Organization “Russian Society of Doctors of Restorative Medicine, Medical Rehabilitation, Balneologists and Physiotherapists,” hereinafter referred to as the “Society,” is an all-Russian public association based on individual membership of physicians engaged in medical activity in the field of restorative medicine, medical rehabilitation, balneology and physiotherapy, is a separate legal entity and an integral, inseparable part of the unified national system of corporate governance of medical activity, a successor to the traditions of pre-revolutionary medical societies in the field of balneology (balneotherapy) and physiotherapy, and carries out its activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the current legislation of the Russian Federation, the norms of international law, international treaties of the Russian Federation, and the Charter of the Society. The Society interacts with the state authorities of the Russian Federation and is also one of the founders of the National Medical Chamber.
The change of name of the All-Russian public organization “Russian Society of Doctors of Restorative Medicine of the Russian Medical Society” (ROV VMRMO) to “Russian Society of Doctors of Restorative Medicine, Medical Rehabilitation, Balneologists and Physiotherapists” (ROV VMMRKF) was caused by two reasons. First, based on the Society’s 6-year practical experience, there arose a need to clarify the field of professional activity. Second, in connection with the decision of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia (see History) to exclude the specialty “Restorative Medicine” from the nomenclature of specialties in the healthcare sector of the Russian Federation and the introduction of the specialty “Medical Rehabilitation Physician.” It should be noted that the change of name is not an act of changing legal status. And despite changes in the nomenclature of positions, the specialty (14.03.11) — restorative medicine, sports medicine, therapeutic exercise, balneology, physiotherapy, and medical-social rehabilitation — continues to exist. Degrees in this specialty are awarded in three branches of science: medical, biological, and psychological. The first dissertation council D 850.019.01, established after the reorganization of the Higher Attestation Commission, is headed by the President of ROV VMMRKF, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Nikolayevich Razumov. (More information about the work of the dissertation council can be found on the website of our strategic partner, the Moscow Scientific and Practical Center for Medical Rehabilitation, Restorative and Sports Medicine of the Moscow Health Department) ROV VMMRKF carries out its activities in the territories of more than half of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and has all-Russian status, and the duration of the Society’s activity is unlimited. In the interests of the health of Russian citizens, the Society promotes the restoration of the specialty “Restorative Medicine” in the nomenclature of specialties of healthcare specialists in the Russian Federation and the solution of problems arising in relation to the development of the restorative medicine service, including medical rehabilitation, sanatorium-and-spa treatment, the system of medical prevention (primary and secondary), as well as health improvement of persons at risk in the Russian Federation. (see History) The organizational and legal form is an All-Russian public association. The goals and objectives of the Society are set out in its Charter, which is located on this same website.
