At the Moscow Scientific and Practical Center for Dermatovenereology and Cosmetology (MSPCDC), a ceremony was held to mark the 90th anniversary of Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Sergeevich Potekaev, whose name is widely known both in our country and abroad. The scientist has made a great contribution to science; he is the author of more than 400 scientific works, including monographs, methodological recommendations, textbooks, manuals, and reference books. Professor N.S. Potekaev’s research is original, profound, and multifaceted. He is a true luminary of the Russian dermatovenereology school, behind whom stand not only numerous scientific works and many followers, but also many years of a physician’s labor, who managed in practice to prove the successful treatment of people from terrible diseases associated with skin conditions.

Pneumococcal vaccination starts in Russia on November 29
Immunization against pneumococcal infection in Russia will be launched on November 29, although earlier representatives of the Ministry of Health had planned to begin vaccination only at the end of December.
Children living in the Moscow and Lipetsk regions will be the first to receive the pneumococcal vaccine. However, by the end of the year about 3 million doses of vaccines will already be delivered to the regions.

Cystic Fibrosis Day was held in Russia
Experts note that the scale of the disease is still underestimated.
On November 26, the annual event dedicated to Russian and European Cystic Fibrosis Day took place at the FSBSI Research Center for Children’s Health. Such festive gatherings of the Center’s young patients with leading specialists in pulmonology, representatives of public organizations, and the media are intended to draw public attention to the issues of diagnosis and timely, appropriate therapy for cystic fibrosis.

The waiting time for doctors in Moscow polyclinics has been cut in half
Thanks to the implementation of the Unified Medical Information and Analytical System (EMIAS), the waiting time for patients to see a doctor in Moscow clinics has been cut in half. According to the city’s Department of Information Technologies, more than 80% of patients are seen by specialists at exactly the scheduled time.

Every year in Russia, these infections affect from 10 to 40% of the entire population. The economic damage from influenza epidemics amounts to tens of billions of rubles.

The All-Russian Doctors’ Competition has been held for the fourteenth consecutive year, and for the first time this year the All-Russian Competition for Mid-Level Medical Workers was held.
The beginning of this tradition was laid in 2001, when the Ministry of Health, together with Medical Gazette and the Trade Union of Medical Workers, held the first All-Russian Competition of Professional Excellence among doctors.
